THE FORTY-THIRD DISCOURSE On censure of asking from any but Allah
Whoever asks anything from men does so only through his
ignorance of God and weakness of faith and knowledge of reality, and lack
of certainty and lack of patience; and whoever refrains from asking does so
only through the abundance of his knowledge of God, the Mighty, the
Glorious, and through the strength of his faith and of certainty, and through
an incessant increase in his knowledge of God every moment, and his
shyness from Him, the Mighty, the Glorious.
